Funds boost for slo-mo rail links  Major chunk for 6 projects OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT Ranchi, March 13: The state government today tabled its third supplementary budget to the tune of Rs 798 crore, earmarking Rs 310 crore for ongoing railway projects. This means, a major chunk of the supplementary budget, presented in the House by deputy chief minister Hemant Soren on the eve of the rail budget, would be spent on six ongoing railway projects for which the Munda government recently renewed Jharkhand's MoU with the railway ministry to finalise the cost-sharing formula at 50:50. The projects include laying of tracks between Dumka and Rampurhat, Koderma and Ranchi, Koderma and Giridih, Koderma and Tilaiya, Ranchi and Tori and Deoghar and Dumka. Other than the Deoghar-Dumka link, the other projects are far from complete. "The new projects are very important for Jharkhand as they will transform lives. We urge the railway ministry to give extra attention to the projects in Jharkhand and make adequate provisions in tomorrow's budget to complete them as soon as possible," Ayodhya Nath Mishra, parliamentary affairs adviser to chief minister Arjun Munda said. The state's supplementary budget, to be discussed in the House tomorrow, also allocated Rs 90 crore for Khunti, Giridih and Ranchi, all of which have now been included in the Centre's integrated action plan for Maoist-hit districts. According to the other proposals, Rs 40 lakh was allocated for buying five vehicles for the governor's convoy and Rs 75 lakh for maintenance of judges' bungalows and fitting a high court annexe with air conditioners and generators. Also, Rs 10 crore was allocated for operationalising Jharkhand State Beverage Corporation and Rs 1.72 crore for beautifying Shahid Park in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Other allocations: Rs 47 crore for food and civil supplies department to procure rice Rs 30 crore for new police stations Rs 14 crore for bicycles for girl students belonging to backward castes Rs 5.69 crore for bicycles for SC students Rs 1 crore for maintenance of video conferencing systems set up between jails and courts to conduct online trials
