as you know, the Government of India has come up with new proposals for setting up a single-window, fast track clearance system for approvals related to Genetically Modified crops/foods in India, called the National Biotechnology Regulation Bill 2008 under which a National Biotechnology Regulatory Authority would be set up under the DBT.

A national consultation of representatives of farmers', environmental and sustainable agriculture/development groups took place in Delhi on July 24th and the attached letter to the Prime Minister is a result of this debate and deliberation. The official deadline for providing feedback to the GoI on the draft Bill is July 30th 2008.
May I request you to kindly respond back to me if you are endorsing this letter to the Govt., by just mentioning your name, organisation, city and state, by the 29th July night? thanks.
What would also be good is if on the 30th and 31st of this month, with the final endorsed/signed letter to the PM, if some of you in different cities could hold press conferences and get the local governments and media activated on the details of this undemocratic biotech bill.
