PRESS RELEASE   NHRC investigation team leaves Delhi to investigate alleged rape and murder of a girl in Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh   New Delhi, June 13th, 2011   NHRC investigation team has left Delhi for Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh today to enquire into the alleged rape and murder of a teenage girl, whose body was found hanging from a tree in the premises of the local police station.  The two member team is led by Mr. P.S. Rao, DSP, Investigation Division, NHRC. The Commission taking suo motu cognizance of media reports had decided on the 12th June, 2011 to send its own investigation team for an on the spot enquiry into the incident reportedly happened on the 10th June, 2011.
