ECONOMIC IGNORANCE IS COMMONPLACE

ECONOMIC IGNORANCE IS COMMONPLACE

Ron Paul, a frequent reader of http://venitism.blogspot.com, points out economic ignorance is commonplace. Keynesianism continues to thrive, although today it is facing healthy and enthusiastic rebuttals. Believers in military Keynesianism and domestic Keynesianism continue to desperately promote their failed policies, as the economy languishes in a deep slumber.

Ron Paul notes supporters of all government edicts use humanitarian arguments to justify them. Humanitarian arguments are always used to justify government mandates related to the economy, monetary policy, foreign policy, and personal liberty. This is on purpose to make it more difficult to challenge. But, initiating violence for humanitarian reasons is still violence. Good intentions are no excuse and are just as harmful as when people use force with bad intentions. The results are always negative.

The government has in fact been an enemy of the people's welfare, and that the progress in our living standards has occurred quite in spite of its efforts. It pits individuals, firms, industries, regions, races, and age groups against each other in a zero-sum game of mutual plunder. It takes credit for improvements in material conditions that we in fact owe to the private sector, while refusing to accept responsibility for the countless failures and social ills to which its own programs have given rise.

Rather than bringing about the public good, whatever that means, it governs us through a series of fiefdoms seeking bigger budgets and more power. Despite the veneer of public-interest rhetoric by which it camouflages its real nature, it is a mere parasite on productive activity and a net minus in the story of human welfare.

We would not only survive but even flourish in the absence of countless institutions we are routinely told we could not live without. The propaganda with which we are flooded regarding how indispensable the political class is, why they are selflessly devoted to public service, is unworthy of a fifth-grader. We would not die instantly in the absence of kleptocrats. We would flourish.

I speak up for liberty and tax revolt at events around the world. At the podium, I criticize the dysfunctional kleptocracy that exists in all countries today and highlight the need for anarchy, abolition of taxes, especially VAT, privatization of everything, and unlimited personal liberties. Ron Paul says the immoral use of force is the source of man's political problems. Sadly, many religious groups, secular organizations, and psychopathic authoritarians endorse government initiated force to change the world. Even when the desired goals are well-intentioned, or especially when well-intentioned, the results are dismal. The good results sought never materialize. The new problems created require even more government force as a solution. The net result is institutionalizing government initiated violence and morally justifying it on humanitarian grounds. http://venitism.blogspot.com

This is the same fundamental reason our government uses force for invading other countries at will, central economic planning at home, and the regulation of personal liberty and habits of our citizens. It is rather strange, that unless one has a criminal mind and no respect for other people and their property, no one claims it's permissible to go into one's neighbor's house and tell them how to behave, what they can eat, smoke and drink or how to spend their money.

Yet, rarely is it asked why it is morally acceptable that a stranger with a badge and a gun can do the same thing in the name of law and order. Any resistance is met with brute force, fines, taxes, arrests, and even imprisonment. This is done more frequently every day without a proper search warrant. http://venitism.blogspot.com

The government of Greece in 2010 was so stupid that it hoodwinked all media that I plotted to trigger a war between Greece and Turkey and blame Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, for it! Much worse than that, all the Greek media were so stupid that they believed this nonsense!

Accusing dissident bloggers of treason, the Greek government manufactured a blood libel in cyberspace, which in turn incites hatred. The deranged minister gave my head on plate to Erdogan. Brutal Graecokleptocrats have destroyed my life. My life is stolen. Now I demand my life back!

My persecution costs the government of Greece dearly, because fund managers who follow my ordeal are pissed off, dropping Greek bonds and stocks like hot potatoes, and advising all investors to stay away from Greece. In addition to the default premium, Greek bond yields now also include the stupidity premium! http://venitism.blogspot.com

The problem is that democracy is not freedom. Democracy is simply majoritarianism, which is inherently incompatible with freedom. While our Constitution certainly features certain democratic mechanisms, it also features inherently undemocratic mechanisms like the First Amendment and the Electoral College. American is a constitutional republic, not a democracy. Yet we've been bombarded with the meaningless word democracy for so long that few Americans understand the difference.
