India Votes today and the Maoists struck in Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa, killing 17 people, including five election officials and ten security personnel, and looted electronic voting machines in a bid to disrupt the first phase of polling for Lok Sabha!

Meanwhile, I have watched two important films as my son STEVE insisted for it.

First film is all about the Dark Age, the Infinite Black Hole in which Generation Next is DUMPED.

It is VEXILE, a JAPANESE Animation film set in Future when the JAPANESE will be EXTINCT and the HUMANOIDS would take over the Galaxy!

Just before ten years we never VISUALISE the VIRTUAL REALITY WORLD!

We knew nothing about TV Channels and cable Network.

We knew nothing about the INFORMATION Technology!

 We did never imagine OUTSOURCING!

We were alien to Spectrum 3G.

We were not aware of Liberalisation, Globalisation, Privatisation and Disinvestment!

Postmodernism never touched our Heart or mind with so intensity.

We live now in a WONDER World!

Us Imperialism, Corporate ILLUMINITI, MNCs, Retail Chain, Nuclear energy, War against Terror, Subversion, Blind Hindu Nationalism and Strategic realliance in US Israel lead are the FASCIST ZIONIST Realities SUPREME these days!

VEXILE Projection may come TRUE!

US Imperialism is followed by Japanese SUPER ECONOMIC Power and ROBOTICS!

We never resisted Fascist Hindutva as we wanted SWARAJ of BRAHMIN BANIA led Manusmriti RULE which was made possible with RAMRAJ Campaign by MK Gandhi.

The Fascist Hinduism has never been ONE DIMENSIONAL.

 It has different COLORS.

 Different IDEOLOGIES.

The Ruling Manusmriti Hegemony has three Strong Wings UPA, NDA and the LEFT.

Altogether they have transformed the COUNTRY as well as the GEOPOLITICS a Cluster of KILLING FIELDS for Mass DESTRUCTION!

Since Desi ILLUMINITI leads the ECONOMY as well as POLITICS, it is very IMMINENT that COMPUTERS and IT would be followed by ROBOTICS and HUMANOIDS with MONOPOLISTIC Aggression and FLAT DISINVESTMENT and JOB LOSS and STARVATION with Predestined EXTINCTION of Indian People!

I watched the second film on Fox History channel once again.

It is about the life and PHILOSOPHY of a GENUINE COMMUNIST, SHAHEEDEAZAM BHAGAT Singh, The LEGEND of Bhagat Singh!

It creates an EXCELLENT Chemistry of Past and Future. Provided we insert RANG DE BASANTI reality into the fluid , the PICTURE becomes COMPLETE. It is TOTAL and ULTIMATE Reality.

The PREDESTINED EXTINCTION of INDIAN SPECIES!

Maoist Violence remains an INTERLUDE as it never happens a MASS EMPOWERMENT, MASS ORGANISATION or MASS MOBILISATION or MASS RESISTANCE. It is PREDESTINED to be CRUSHED with Almighty STATE POWER BOOTS!

We have not to be liberated with this SPORADIC VIOLENCE as far as the RULING HEGEMONY sustains itself in the best interest of the MANUSMRITI APARTHEID BRAHAMINICAL ILLUMINITI WAR WEAPON CORPORATE ZIONIST HEGEMONY sustains WORLDWIDE.

The War is not LOCALISED.

It is neither a CIVIL WAR limited to a certain Nation nor a traditional WAR between Nations as the World Wars had been.

It is the GLOBAL WAR against the BLACK Untouchables, the INDIGENOUS Aboriginal Minority Communities worldwide.

We may not win this WAR being limited in certain BASES with some AMBUSHES!

Rather it would make the SUPPORT Base the VICTIM of STATE VIOLENCE which our people may not RESIST DISARMED!

We have seen it in the past phases of the NAXALITE Movement!

Well, I have opportunities to interact with the People all over the so called MAOIST Corridor, in Jharkhand, Bihar, UP, MP, Bengal, CHHTISHGARGH, Orissa, Maharashtra and ANDHRA.

The Aboriginal INDIGENOUS communities have nothing against the Maoists and they happen to be the SUPPORT Bases of the MAOIST RESISTANCE. It is the TRUTH in DANTEWARA, JHARKHAND, DANDAKARANYA and BENGAL as well!

But this SUPPORT base is not ENOUGH for a GLOBAL war to be fought against NUCLEAR Alliance armed with MEDIA, IT and HUMANOIDS!

It is rather suicidal and TIME WASTE as we, the GENERATION SEVENTIES have realised well in time to proceed!

Our Maoist friends would realise it very soon that DR Ambedkar was absolutely correct when he said the POLITICAL CHANGE comes only after SOCIAL CHANGE with SOCIAL MOVEMENT.

Barack Obama proved it once again with mobilising the Social as well as Productive forces after GANDHI and Martin Luther King accomplished the task.

Unfortunately, Indian Social movement led BY Gandhi was a TOTAL BRAHMIN BANIA affair which included most of the Six thousand castes and the SCHEDULED CASTES led by DR Ambedkar was ALIENATED and SEGREGATION of the TRIBES was COMPLETE!

 Nationalities CRUSHED.

Minorities TAMED.

Thus the Indian Manusmriti Hegemony shaped in and the DESI CORPORATE ILLUMINITI as well as Fascism and Zionist imperialism CONSOLIDATE it making it GLOBAL!

Without a NATIONWIDE, preferably, a GLOBAL SOCIAL Movement including Productive forces , only scattered MAOIST VIOLENCE may not overthrow it.

Rather it would INTENSIFY the ATTACKS against the masses from the JOINT Front of GENOCIDE CULTURE!

Enthused by the stock market rally, an increasing number of Indian executives believe the economy is on a recovery path, although a majority still feel that the worst is not over, a survey says.

"Buoyed by a sustained stock market rally, executive's attitudes about the state of the Indian economy ticked up in March, though the majority still feel we are in the midst of a severe recession," a survey by global talent management solutions provider Korn/Ferry International said.

About 24 per cent of executives feel the economy is recovering, while 53 per cent believe it is still in a severe recession, the survey, conducted at the end of March, said.

Stepping up their attacks, Maoists struck in Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa, killing 17 people, including five election officials and ten security personnel, and looted electronic voting machines in a bid to disrupt the first phase of polling for Lok Sabha, as moderate to brisk voting was reported across 17 states and union territories. Shortly after voting began at 0700 hrs, Naxals triggered a landmine striking a bus ferrying Border Security Force personnel in Latehar district in Jharkhand which five personnel and two civilians were killed.

In Bihar, a homeguard and a police personnel on election duty were shot dead and another injured by Naxals in Singhpur village in Gaya district, police said. Two other police personnel were missing.

Two polling booths were set on fire and polling machines snatched in Dantewada and Narainpur in another Naxal-infested state Chhattisgarh by the Left-wing extremists who also triggered IED blasts and exchanged fire with security forces. One CRPF personnel was killed in the clashes.

Maoists also set afire at least three polling booths, electronic voting machines and other materials in Orissa's Malkangiri district today, disrupting voting.

CLB approves Tech Mahindra's Satyam bid

Company Law Board (CLB) on Thursday approved the takeover of fraud-hit Satyam Computer Services by mid-sized outsourcer Tech Mahindra, as had been expected. "Having convinced myself that the board of directors has selected a technically and financially competent/qualified strategic investor... I accept the recommendation," CLB chairman S. Balasubramanian said in a statement.
Tech Mahindra was the highest bidder for a controlling stake in Satyam on Monday. The deal will propel Tech Mahindra into the top tier of Indian IT firms and throw a lifeline to the firm at the centre of India's biggest corporate scandal.

Tech Mahindra, 31 per cent owned by Britain's BT Group, will pay $351 million for a 31 per cent preferential allotment of new shares in Satyam and will make an open offer for a further 20 per cent at a cost of up to around $225 million.

The bid, in an auction conducted by the government-appointed board of Satyam, had to be approved by the Company Law Board. Analysts had the expected the deal to be approved.

Three months ago, Satyam's founder and chairman shocked investors by saying profits had been overstated for years, putting in doubt the survival of a company once ranked as India's fourth-largest software services exporter.

The government quickly stepped in and sacked the board to limit damage to India's once-shining IT sector.

          VEXILLE (a J!-ENT Anime Blu-ray Disc Review)

January 16, 2009 by Dennis Amith

"VEXILLE was meant to be seen on Blu-ray!  Beautiful and eye popping visuals, incredible sound and a thought provoking storyline with a special feature loaded Blu-ray Disc!  Highly recommended!"

          2067: ISOLATION

Japan seals herself off from the eyes of the world in the face of unilateral international policy setting strict limits on the use of robotic technology. The island nation exists only behind a veil of seclusion. No soul shall enter. No soul shall leave.

          2077: REVELATION

The veil is breached. Japan is infiltrated by agents of the organization S.W.O.R.D., a fighting force operating outside of the protection of the United States and her allies. Their mission: Determine if the Japanese are developing banned robotic bio-technology, forbidden due to its threat to mankind.

In the battle between machine and man, humanity stands to suffer most.

          http://72.14.235.132/search?q=cache:mvSEkD4lrAMJ:www.nt2099.com/J-ENT/news/blu-ray-dvd-reviews/anime-blu-ray-reviews/vexille-a-j-ent-anime-blu-ray-disc-review-2/+Vexile,+the+Japanese+film&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=in

Vexille takes place in the year of 2077, when robotics has been banned to secure the future of man kind. A team is dispatched to Tokyo to make sure that they haven't broken this law. The animation in this film is amazing. You can almost get lost in the film while watching. The characters are so life-like and are different from each other that you feel real emotions to them. The explosions and weapons fire is great! The machines they had built in 2077 were amazing.

At the beginning of the 21st century, due to both the rapid development of human lifespan extending biotechnology and robotics, Japan dominates world industry. On the grounds that this technology is dangerous, the U.N. orders Japan to impose strict regulatory measures.

The Japanese government refuses the order. They rebel against the U.N. and instead decide on a policy of "National Isolation."

In 2067 A.D., using advanced technology, Japan begins its complete isolation from the rest of the world.

          Ten years pass.

In 2077 A.D., Vexille, a female soldier of SWORD, the United States Special Forces, infiltrates Japan. What she sees there is beyond her imagination. Devastation spreads as far as the eye can see. Is this really the Japan that wielded advanced technologies? No other foreigner has seen the true face of Japan during these 10 years.
This movie takes place in the future. Japan has become the robotics leader in the world and everyone wants their products. Well the issue of creating robotic humans came up in a world's conference and the world said you can't do that. Well Japan decided to not agree and isolated themselves. They did so with an electromagnetic fence so no one can see in or out of this area of the world. This includes satellites. Basically Japan can do what it wants and because Japan makes the best robots, no one is going to challenge them on this. It's a political thing. So for several years no one knew what was going on in Japan and Japan continued to supply the world with the best robots. Happy ending? Nope, it's just the beginning.

The setting up of the plot and the unraveling of the story really sucks. They really just started to talk about a world, add an action scene, talk about the world, add an action scene, talk about the world, etc, etc, etc. It was as tiring as an old wooden roller coaster. So much could have been done differently and the blame lies squarely at the director. He could have changed the writing or editing, or something to make it an adventure, not just a simple (yet fun) carnival ride.

But is the movie entertaining? Yes it is. It is a great movie to put on your queue and if you like Appleseed and Appleseed ex, then you may want to pick this up. I personally am going to wait for the Blu Ray version myself. But keep in mind that both Appleseed movies are better in my opinion.

Character building is very slow and not well done in my opinion. I had a hint at who the lead character was (the title should have been a dead give away) but I wasn't completely sure the first time I saw it. They developed so many people at the beginning of the movie that I originally thought they would focus on the group and not just the girl. Well I was wrong and I felt they were in developing other individuals in the way they did. They could have focused their attention on Vexille a lot more and developed her more (as well as another person I will keep nameless). They really should have scripted this differently.

The pacing wasn't perfect as I mentioned above. There were scenes that in my mind went on for quite a while and they made a point that should have only took 2 seconds to explain. Sometimes if felt as if they were going around in circles too; instead of on a linear path.

The animation is absolutely beautiful. This movie got a lot of points in my book because of the detail and beauty of the film. It is mesmerizing. I really felt as if it was the real Earth of the future. I believed in Tokyo and the people in the city. I felt as if I knew them. It just felt real. I felt as if I was something more than just a spectator or a fly on the wall (if that makes sense). That is due to the detail and the camera angles and how they moved the camera through the environments the story takes place. This is why you want to see this film above all other reasons. It is visually breathtaking.

One of my gripes about the animation is the people. They just did not look realistic enough for my tastes. The characters in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within look better then the humans in this movie, and that movie was released in 2001. I even think the humans were better in Appleseed. So there is no excuse for making subpar people in CG movies any more and they lost points for this.

One of the other better aspects of this film is the story. Not the pacing, not the editing, not the writing, not the directing....just the basic story itself. I categorize it as a Sci-Fi Mystery. The story is mostly original and really makes you think. And with so many cookie cutter movies out there, I was refreshed to see something slightly different with its own unique twist. And that is all I am going to say about it because to do more would spoil the film.

The music was apparently by Oakenfold but it wasn't all that familiar to me. According to the soundtrack on Amazon it only listed his name to 3 songs so I'm not sure what's going on. The soundtrack was nice but it just didn't inspire me. Not a soundtrack I will buy.

          The key players
          Director: Sori
          Executive Producer: Kazuya Hamana
          Writer: Haruka Handa & Sori
Music: Paul Oakenfold (ya couldn't believe it either, maybe there's hope for a Tiesto soundtrack.)

Having reviewed the DVD version of "VEXILLE" back in July, I was very excited to see how VEXILLE would look on Blu-ray via 1080p High Definition and sound via TrueHD audio and I was literally floored.  Let's just say that my appreciation for this film literally skyrocketed.  FUNimation Entertainment really went all out to give fans a true definitive Blu-ray release in the US for "VEXILLE".  But before I go into the differences from the DVD and Blu-ray release, let me first explain a little bit about the storyline.

Having watched "Appleseed", it was pretty much a no brainer that I would be giving "VEXILLE" a try.

The latest theatrical effort from SORI combining 3D and animation together that have made films such as the two "Appleseed" films has been quite exciting to watch and see develop overtime and just pretty much to see where animators are able to take things to a new level is always exciting.

As a viewer, I'm open to new technologies and to see technology and well-told storylines come together.

Of course, what makes things even more interesting is that SORI (Sori Fumuhiko) has evolved from his directorial debut with the live action theatrical hit "Ping Pong" back in 2001, produced the 2004 "Appleseed" film and here he is now as the director and screenwriter for the animated film "VEXILLE".

With "VEXILLE", the creators of the "Appleseed" film are back with a storyline that I have to say is quite thought provoking and animation that is quite mesmerizing to watch but this is a storyline that I wish was fleshed out in several movies than just one.

The main story is about how in 2067. A time where cybernetic robotics has peaked and with a U.N. ban on the development robotics, of course, Japan is the country that is being pressured to stop with its development.

Japan leaves the United Nations and pretty much seals itself up to the world. No one knows what is happening in Japan and because of new technology, no one enters or leaves Japan. And in the middle of this technology is this sinister corporation known as Daiwa Heavy Industries.

Flash forward ten years later and in 2077, the U.S. based organization S.W.O.R.D., after a mission has received some evidence that Japan has been producing some type of biologically/cybernetic construction on humans but additional intel is needed and S.W.O.R.D. must prove that Japan is developing banned robotic bio technology that could threaten humankind.

You are introduced to the main two characters of S.W.O.R.D., Vexille and Leon. Both are a couple but dedicated to their jobs. Unknown to Vexille, Leon has a secret.

It appears that Leon was in an undercover mission in Japan (before Japan left the U.N. and before all foreigners were deported from Japan) before his relationship with Vexille and that he has a major reason for wanting to go back.

During a security mission for Daiwa, Leon and a partner from S.W.O.R.D. go on pursuit after someone causing trouble at the San Pedro shipyard. During the tragic pursuit, the assailant relays information to Leon about a major meeting in Japan and a message from a "Maria".

Of course, these chain of events is enough for S.W.O.R.D. to act quickly and devise a team (led by Leon) to infiltrate Japan, gather intelligence and send over the data to the U.S. to prove Japan is literally devising robotic weaponry that can be used against other nations.

The mission is botched and leads to Vexille being the lone soldier of S.W.O.R.D. now wandering an area that is supposed to be Tokyo but an even bigger shocker exists and what has become of Japan since 2067 and what happens when she comes face to face with this person named "Maria".

From there on in, while the SWORD team tries to find out what about to Tokyo in the US, Vexile joins forces with Maria and others to free Japan from an evil scientist and leader of Daiwa and those working for him.  But in their way is a heavily secured island and the JAGS.  Will Vexille, Maria and crew be able to stop Daiwa?

          VIDEO:

First, let me first preface by saying that "VEXILLE" really looked good on DVD. But on 1080p High Definition (16×9), I was blown away by the Blu-ray release.  You start to realize how much detail was incorporated into this film.  Something that I really never saw during the DVD review.

With the Blu-ray release, there is detail from the building structures, the pores on the concrete and you see how clothing is blown through the wind.

And the Jags, you really see the detail of the junk that it's comprised of.  The video literally knocked my socks off because everything looked beautiful.  The lighting, the shading really stood out and I thought things looked beautiful on DVD but on Blu-ray, I was floored.

The video quality is just incredible and as of right now, for a modern release on Blu-ray from Japan, the picture quality of "VEXILLE" was just incredible.

          AUDIO:

When I first heard the audio on the DVD version, I thought it was OK but my mind kept zeroing in on the audio since music does play a great part in this animated film.  But the English and Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track again, floored me.

The way the channels were distributed through each speaker, from footsteps, to each shot taken and in the market, hearing voices all around you and a table being kicked and hearing it from the front speaker and then hearing it continue to the rear speakers, I was very impressed by the audio quality on this Blu-ray release of "VEXILLE".  Fantastic!

          SPECIAL FEATURES:

With the DVD release, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of special features especially knowing that the Asian release had a good number of special features included.  But fortunately, for the "VEXILLE" Blu-ray release, this disc is fully loaded with over 115 minutes of extra features.   The special features are featured in 480i Standard Definition and in Dolby Digital Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles.  Included on the disc:

          • Opening Comments from the Locarno Film Festival
          • Sori's Work as an Animation Creator
          • Voice Acting Footage - Voice of VEXILLE

          • An Old Friend Visits Sori
          • Behind-the-Scenes Footage of ICHI

          • Creating the Music in VEXILLE - Part 1
          • Creating the Music in VEXILLE - Part 2
          • VEXILLE's Premiere
          • Sori's Closing Comments
          • The Secrets of VEXILLE
          • Original TV Spots and Previews
          • FUNimation Trailers

I have to admit that I really enjoyed the film. You get hooked on these characters such as Vexille, Leon, Maria and you just want more character development. Heck, even the main enemy scientist of Daiwa or even the corporation itself, you want to ask why did they do what they did. So, you are left with questions but of course, there is only so much you can cover in a film that is already at 105 minutes long.

So, for me, I wish the storyline would lead to another film but pretty much the way everything was written, everything is contained to one story, one movie and focusing on the overall situation in Japan ala 2077 than the characters.

But as much as I really enjoyed the DVD release of "VEXILLE", the Blu-ray version just blows it out of the water. The amount of detail that is present in the Blu-ray release is incredible. The picture and audio quality was incredible and again, just the amount of detail that went into a structure, inanimate object to the flooring or walls and the water effects, truly amazing!

And for the audio, again…on the DVD release, I felt that I was picking up more of the music more than the effects but this time around, all special effects from people chattering, footsteps to the action scenes were just so much more evident on Dolby TrueHD. The audio quality was fantastic!

"VEXILLE" was meant to be seen on Blu-ray. This is one solid release from FUNimation and a definite must-own for anime or fans of Japanese animated films or Japanese releases period on Blu-ray. Beautiful and eye popping visuals, incredible sound and a thought provoking storyline with a special features loaded Blu-ray Disc!

          Highly recommended!

          India Votes

Voting began on a moderate note in 124 constituencies spread across 15 states and two union territories during which the fate of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, BJP's Murli Manohar Joshi and Yashwant Sinha and TRS president K Chandrasekar Rao will be decided. There are 1,715 candidates in the fray.

Over 14.31 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballot on Thursday across 1.85 lakh polling stations set up by the Election Commission and secured by tens of thousands of police personnel.

Elections to 154 Assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh and 70 in Orissa are also being held on Thursday. Polling began on a moderate note in Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency which included areas in the border region.

In Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam voters turned up in large numbers at the polling booths to exercise their franchise.

Voting would end at 1700 hrs in most places, except in Naxal-infested areas where it would close at 1500 hrs. Initial reports said 10 to 12 per cent of votes were polled in the first two hours in Arunachal Pradesh and 20 per cent in Assam.

While all 20 seats in Kerala, 11 in Chhattisgarh and two each in Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya went to polls in a single phase today, polling is underway in 13 out of 40 seats in Bihar, 16 out of 80 in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra 13 (48), Andhra Pradesh 22 (42), Jharkhand 6 (14), Orissa 10 (21), Assam 3 (14), Manipur 1 (2) and Jammu and Kashmir 1 (6).

The lone seats in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Mizoram and Nagaland are also covered in the first phase.

Prominent among those seeking elections to the lower house of Parliament are Union Ministers Praful Patel, Renuka Chowdhury, D Purandeswari, Santosh Mohan Dev, Meira Kumar, Rameshwar Oraon and E Ahamed and BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy, former UN Under-Secretary General Shashi Tharoor and south Indian actress Vijaya Shanti.

As has become customary, voters were exercising their franchise through Electronic Voting Machines.

Tight security arrangements have been made for the polls with Central paramilitary forces being deployed along with the security forces of the states.

State borders have been sealed to prevent movement of criminal elements and liquor. Other phases of Lok Sabha polls are due on April 23, 30 and May seven and 13. A minor scuffle between UDF and LDF workers broke out after LDF workers protested Congress candidate from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor speaking to reporters, who bombarded him with questions, outside a booth in Jawahar Nagar in the city.

The protesters alleged that this created problems for other voters. The situation, however, was defused by police immediately.

Advani stars in latest shoe saga
Katni (MP) A slipper was lobbed at BJP leader LK Advani by a former functionary of the saffron party during a public meeting in Katni (MP), the latest in the series of such episodes involving political leaders, but it did not hit him.
The slipper was hurled by former Katni district president of BJP Pawas Agarwal, who allegedly was aggrieved at the party leadership for being "removed from his post due to groupism within the party," police said.

He threw the slipper shortly after Advani reached the dais, they said.

Soon after the incident, he was taken to the rear of the stage and then whisked away by the police.

The incident comes close on the heels of a journalist throwing a shoe at Home Minister P Chidambaram during a press conference in New Delhi and a retired school headmaster lobbing a footwear at Congress candidate in Kurukshetra Navin Jindal during a poll rally.

Advani refuses to comment on slipper hurling at him

Senior BJP leader and the party's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani on Thursday refused to comment on the hurling of a slipper at him earlier in the day at Katni.

When reporters wanted to talk to him after his address to the election meeting, Advani said that they should only listen to him and not ask any question.

When reporters asked him to comment on the Katni incident, Advani kept quiet and moved away.

He said that based on the popular support the BJP and its allies were getting during the campaign, he was confident that the NDA would get the majority and form the next government.

Advani said that after coming to power, the NDA would introduce identity cards to all citizens in the country and this will help to identify Bangladeshis who had come from outside.

Maya threatens tougher action if Varun violates undertaking

Lucknow Describing BJP leader Varun Gandhi, who was detained by her government under National Security Act (NSA), as a "threat" to law and order, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said on Thursday that even more stringent action would be taken against him if he violates his undertaking not to make inflammatory speeches.
A close watch would be kept on Varun's activities after his release from jail following a Supreme Court order, Mayawati told reporters in Lucknow.

"Our government feels that Varun is a threat to law and order of the state and we will keep a close watch on his activities after his release", she said.

"Though I will not like to make any comment on SC decision to grant parole to Gandhi, my government is of the view that his release could vitiate public order in the state. We have strongly contended in the court not to release Gandhi", Mayawati said.

She said Varun in his undertaking given to the apex court has promised not to make inflammatory speeches.

"Such an undertaking was given by the then Chief Minister Kalyan Singh in Ayodhya issue but Congress and BJP had connived and the Babri Mosque was demolished there. And his (Singh's) undertaking proved to be of no use", Mayawati said.

"As Varun belongs to the same party (BJP), we have to see how much he follows what he promised in his undertaking", the Chief Minister said.

"If Varun behaves like Kalyan SIngh, our government will initiate stricter legal action against him", she said adding her government would ensure that he does not repeat his act.

"My government will not allow anyone-be he of Gandhi family or some Raja or Maharaj's family--to vitiate law and order situation in the state", Mayawati said.

Asked about her reaction on low poll percentage in the state, Mayawati said she would have to analyse the reports coming from various parts before making any comment.

SC grants 2-week parole to Varun Gandhi
New Delhi Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the release of Varun Gandhi, booked under the National Security Act, on parole for two weeks on condition that he has to give a fresh undertaking not to make any hate speeches during the elections.
The court directed the 29-year-old BJP leader, who is lodged in Etah jail since March 29, to give an undertaking to jail authorities that he will not make any "inflammatory or provocative speech that causes communal disharmony".

It said after his release, Varun will give an identical undertaking before the apex Court

"Having regard to the facts and circumstances, we are inclined to release him on parole for two weeks on condition that he will give an undertaking before the superintendent of Etah Jail that he will not make such speeches during the parole which is likely to cause communal disturbance and hatred among any caste and community," a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said.

Welcoming the Supreme Court order, BJP said "Gandhi, who is an active party worker will, meanwhile, work for the party in this period".

Reacting to the Supreme Court order, Congress attacked Varun, saying his undertaking to Etah jail authorities that he will not make inflammatory speeches was a virtual admission that the saffron party's candidate made hate speeches. The Bench also comprising Justices P Sathasivam and J M Panchal said Varun will not disturb public sentiments during the period of parole.

Varun would also have to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of the like amount before the Pilibhit District Magistrate, the court said.

At the outset, senior advocate Mukul Rohtagi, appearing for Varun, placed before the Bench an affidavit signed by the BJP leader from the jail about his undertaking in response to the previous order of the apex court on April 13.

However, the Uttar Pradesh counsel and senior advocate Harish Salve objected to the manner in which the undertaking was placed, saying he has not received the text of the undertaking and the matter was of sensitive nature.

The Bench was also not satisfied with the affidavit of Varun and said that the contents of the undertaking cannot be of his choice.

"We will give the nature of the undertaking to be filed by Varun," the Bench said.

"This is not sufficient. You should indicate what sort of undertaking you are giving," the Bench said.

Salve said the authorities are of the view that Varun is still a threat to public order. He said that the state government opposed his release on parole on the basis of this undertaking. The BJP leader had approached the apex Court after he was arrested under the NSA for allegedly making inflammatory statements and causing a breach of public order when he went to Pilibhit to surrender on March 28 in a case registered against him for allegedly making "inflammatory and communal speech" during his campaigning there last month.

The BJP nominee from Pilibhit constituency pleaded for bail saying that the filing of nomination papers was to begin on Friday.

The Court had on April 2 issued notices to the state government and the District Magistrate of Pilibhit on the allegation by Varun that NSA was invoked against him with a political motive to sabotage his electoral debut.

Etah jail still waiting for SC order on Varun

Lucknow: Varun Gandhi is still awaiting his release despite Supreme Court granting two weeks parole to BJP candidate from Pilibhit parliamentary constituency as the Etah jail authorities have yet not received a copy of the apex court's order.

"We have not received the copy of the Supreme Court order yet. As soon as the copy is received, we will act accordingly," Superintendent of Etah District Jail Viresh Raj Sharma told reporters in Etah.

When asked about security arrangements to be made for the release of Varun, Sharma said that they were in touch with the district administration in this regard and full security will be ensured to him.

'Fourth Front' will play spoilers for some main contestants: Pranab
Jangipur (Murshidabad) Not ruling out taking its support again to form the government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said that the 'Fourth Front' comprising SP, LJP and RJD would split secular votes.
They would play spoilers for the main contestants where they are not serious contenders, he said.

"They will clearly waste votes. That is their main objective," the Congress leader said in an interview.

When asked to comment on reports that in the post-poll situation, the Congress might take their support, he said, "I do not know. It will depend on numbers. After all democracy is a game of numbers. What I can say is, we will get adequate number of seats. I can't predict. We are fighting to win the elections."

"Congress is contesting in enough constituencies to get adequate number of seats along with all the partners with whom we have seat sharing-arrangements like the Trinamool Congress in Bengal, NCP in Maharashtra, DMK in Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha led by Shibu Soren.

"Therefore, it will not be very difficult for the Congress to muster majority to form the government," he said. When asked whether he foresaw a situation where the Left would play a supporting role in government formation, Mukherjee said, "I have answered your earlier question and I am repeating it.

"We are confident of getting adequate number of seats to form the government; We and our partners with whom we have made (seat) adjustment. Beyond this it is difficult for me to say."

Mukherjee was critical of Left parties for their allegation that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had made the nuclear deal his personal agenda and pressurised his party and allies on the issue. "Not at all," he said.

"Energy security is the agenda of the nation. Civil nuclear co-operation is important. We cannot ensure energy security depending simply on hydel power and thermal power where ash content in our coal is high," he said.

He said that it was also important from the point of coming out of the technological isolation. For 35 years since 1974, India was subjected to technological isolation. On asked in what way his party's seat-sharing pact with the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal for the Lok Sabha election was different from the alliance between the two parties forged in 2001 during the assembly poll, Mukherjee said, "There is a difference between 2001 and 2009".

"In 2001, the alliance was a little impractical in the sense that unfortunately about 16 sitting Congress MLAs were not allowed to be renominated by the party," he said.

Mukherjee, also the WBPCC chief, was referring to the situation in 2001 when under pressure from Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, 16 sitting Congress MLAs were denied nomination and she put up her party candidates in the constituencies.

"But this time this has not happened," he said, adding that sitting Congress MPs have been renominated.

He said that it was true that some seats alloted to Congress by the TC under the seat-sharing deal were difficult to win.

Trinamool Congress would contest 27 seats, leaving one to ally SUCI, while Congress has fielded candidates in 14 constituencies in West Bengal.

Sensex snaps 8-day rally, sheds 3 pct

Mumbai Equities snapped their longest run of gains in 1-½ years and fell 3 per cent on Thursday, as investors locked in profits after the market jumped almost 18 per cent over eight sessions in a row.
Profit-taking clipped energy giant Reliance Industries and state-run explorer Oil and Natural Gas Corp, which had risen more than 20 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively, during the winning streak.

Financials such as ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and State Bank of India fell as they met with resistance after the banking sector index had leapt 25.5 per cent since March 30.

The 30-share BSE index shed 2.99 per cent, or 337.33 points, to 10,947.40 in choppy trade. It rose 0.7 per cent in early trade and then fell as much as 3.4 per cent.

          Twenty-four stocks declined.

"The market was overbought, so there is obviously some selling pressure. This usually lasts for about two to five days, but after that the longer-term trend in the market is still up," Jai Bala, technical analyst at Reliance Equities, said.

The benchmark had recouped more than 40 per cent of its value from a 2009 low in early March through Wednesday as once risk wary foreign funds resumed pouring money into the market.

Investors were wary as month-long general elections got underway amid signs the two main national parties may struggle to form a stable coalition, traders said.

If a relatively stable coalition comes to power, the BSE index could reach 12,500 to 14,700 points between July and October this year, Bala said.

India's annual inflation rate headed towards zero in early April, which could give the central bank room to cut interest rates when it reviews policy next week.

Top-listed firm Reliance Industries, which has the most weight in the main index, fell 4.9 per cent to 1,736.50 rupees, while ONGC slid 4.8 per cent to 851.75 rupees.

Private-sector lender ICICI Bank dropped 3.9 per cent to 426.40 rupees, while rival HDFC Bank slipped 1.8 per cent to 1,064.40 rupees. Government-run State Bank of India shed 2.6 per cent to 1,261.70 rupees.

Investors bought into defensive shares, with diversified cigarette maker ITC rising 3.2 per cent to 191.55 rupees and consumer-goods maker Hindustan Unilever gaining 1.5 per cent to 239.15 rupees.

In the broader market, losers led advancers in the ratio of 2:1 on heavy volume of 706.2 million shares.

The 50-share NSE index <.NSEI> ended down 3.3 per cent at 3,369.50 points.

Asian shares trimmed gains after data showed China's economy grew 6.1 per cent in the first quarter from a year earlier, its slowest ever quarterly growth.

'Indian investors most optimistic in Asia'

New Delhi Indian investors have emerged as the most optimistic lot in Asia and along with their Chinese counterparts have driven an increase in the region's overall investor sentiment in the first quarter of this year, a latest survey says.
The quarterly Investor Dashboard Sentiment survey by global financial services group ING shows a significant increase of 75 per cent in investor sentiment in India in the first three months of 2009 as compared to the fourth quarter last year.

"Despite a slowdown in global economies and volatility in international financial markets, the ING Investor Dashboard Sentiment Index for India reflects the highest level of investor optimism across Asia," the survey stated.

The India investor index has jumped 75 per cent to 133 in Q1 this year from 76 in fourth quarter of 2008.

The survey indicated that Indian investors were confident about the economy, backed by assurances from the business community and the government.

"Compared with its neighbours in Asia, India's growth of recent years has been driven predominantly by domestic consumption as well as domestic investment. This pattern and growth insulates economy from set backs felt in both global & regional economies," ING Investment Management India acting CEO Navin Suri said.

Terrorists with AK-47s a lethal combination: US official
Washington A top counter-terrorism official of the Obama Administration has said the Mumbai attack shows how a group of terrorists with small weapons like AK-47 can be used as a lethal combination, which can cause irreversible damage to geo-political strategic relationship.
"The events of Mumbai reminded us that old-school terrorist tactics of AK-47 can be extremely valuable to the terrorist organisations," Michael E. Leiter, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said at the AspenInstitute.

"We saw that again with the attack on the police facility in Lahore, and they are extremely easy to perpetrate in many ways," Leiter said in his address last week according to the transcripts made available on Wednesday.

Implying that Mumbai could be considered as a turning point in such terrorist tactics, Leiter said: "We have seen, since the attacks in Mumbai, a desire and a willingness to change some of these tactics, and we are concerned about the change of these tactics, both in the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Indian region, but also beyond that, and the potential for that to manifest itself in the United States or elsewhere."

After Mumbai attack, top US officials have been expressing their apprehension over a similar terrorist attack in larger American cities like New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles. "The other thing I would highlight that I think is important for us to remember is terrorism is not just about the direct innocent victims that are killed or injured in a terrorist attack. Terrorism can also be - and we must also think about the repercussions terrorism has on broader geopolitical issues, and for that I would point again to Mumbai and the threat of extremists in India and the ability for small numbers of extremists and terrorists to cause great instability within larger geopolitical relationships," he said.

Referring to the threat of Al Qaeda and the Taliban coming from Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said: "The threat and the desire of these militant groups that have aligned themselves to a greater or lesser extent with Al Qaeda, to the stability of Pakistan and the region are very significant."

          This is troubling, he observed.

Responding to a question, Leiter acknowledged that the drone attacks inside Pakistan are having some negative repercussions. "I'll be one of the first to admit that there are - there have been some negative repercussions of targeted efforts against Al Qaeda senior leadership in Pakistan. It's just not an absolute good. But in this work we have to consider both the short term and the long term," he said.

On the willingness of Pakistan to co-operate with the US in its fight against terrorism, he said: "I don't think it's any surprise to anyone that there are many times that the US government wished the Pakistan government intelligence and military services had greater willingness and capability to do some of the things that need to be done."

22 customs officers, 10 girls, one nude party

Pune, August 27 The police cracked down on a high-profile party at a bungalow at Khandala at dawn on Wednesday and arrested 40 persons, including 22 Mumbai-based custom officers and 10 dance bar girls. Most of them were nude when caught, said inspector Sudam Darekar, who led the raid.
Ten of the custom officers were superintendents and the other 12 inspectors, all 22 working at Sahar International Airport. Apart from the officers and the girls, the other eight were four men from Mumbai who are believed to have organised the party, the caretaker of the bungalow, a driver and two men who were playing music systems.

The police seized 35 cellphones, along with eight cars, foreign liquor, a laptop, VCDs, a music system and

Rs 55,000 in cash. They produced the group in Wadgaon Maval court in the afternoon and sought custody, but defence lawyers argued this was pointless as police had nothing more to recover. Judicial Magistrate First Class D B Patange then remanded the group to magisterial custody, after which defence lawyers filed for bail immediately.

After competing their shift on Tuesday, the customs men drove to the bungalow in Taj Cottage, Khandala. Their plan was to rejoin work at 8 am on Wednesday. They were carrying their uniforms.

The party started sometime in the evening. Kadam received a tip-off ; the raid came around midnight, by a joint team of the Lonavla city and the rural police.

Darekar said most of the officers and girls were drunk and dancing nude. An adult video was playing on a laptop. Currency notes lay scattered on the ground.

"It is suspicious that so many senior customs officers were partying at the same spot. We are investigating who was behind this party," Darekar said. "We are also trying to find out whether the dance girls were employed by some escort service."

Police said a Mumbai-based person owns the bungalow. The party organisers had taken the bungalow on rent for a day from the caretaker.

Women constables nabbed the girls, while male cops rounded up the men. "Initially, the partygoers tried to hide their identities, but later owned up. We were shocked that 22 of them were customs officers," said Darekar.

The customs officers have been told to report to their commissioner and give an explanation. According to senior officers, none of them have been suspended and any disciplinary action would be taken after each one had been given a chance to explain.

          [edit] Plot

By the 2060s, robotics technology has advanced to the point that cybernetics have become plausible. World opinion begins to turn against robotics, leading to the U.N. declaring a unilateral ban on further research and development in 2067. Japan, being home to robotics pioneer Daiwa Heavy Industries, strongly protests this ban, but is unable to prevent its passage.

In protest, Japan withdraws from international politics. All foreigners are deported, and further immigration is prohibited. In addition, the R.A.C.E. network is constructed - a series of 270 off-shore installations that cover Japan with an energy field that distorts the entire electromagnetic spectrum, nullifying all communication between Japan and the outside world and making even satellite surveillance impossible. Trade continues, but for all intents and purposes, Japan vanishes from the world scene.

2077: A series of bizarre incidents lead the American technology police agency "SWORD" to believe that Japan has used the R.A.C.E network to conceal extensive development of banned technologies. They thus embark on an unapproved scheme to infiltrate Japan and determine the distortion frequency of the R.A.C.E. network, enabling SWORD to gather intelligence on the country . Among those chosen to make the attempt is a veteran agent named Vexille.

Although the agents successfully enter Japan, they are detected by security forces before they can transmit the distortion frequency. Vexille is the sole SWORD agent to evade capture, and only her lover Leon survives to be taken to Daiwa's headquarters.

Vexille awakens without her powered armor suit to find that Tokyo is now a shanty town ruled by Daiwa. A small resistance movement opposes the company, and uses Vexille's backup transmitter to successfully transmit the distortion frequency. Maria, the head of the resistance, details the ten years of secrecy while SWORD studies the Japanese archipelago in shocked horror - the islands are a wasteland devoid of life.

In 2067, an unknown disease struck the Japanese populace, and was countered by an experimental vaccine. In truth, the disease - or more precisely the "vaccine" - was merely an excuse for Daiwa to begin mass testing of experimental nanotechnology. Every Japanese citizen was thus converted into a form of synthetic life. And like any experimental technology, there were unforeseen side effects.

The conversion is imperfect, ultimately resulting in the infected humans entirely losing their free will and becoming merely lifelike machines. In addition, some of the nanotech went amok, resulting in the "Jags", giant whirling constructs of semisentient metal that prowl the wilderness like metallic sandworms. The Jags have destroyed all of Japan save Tokyo, which is protected by an indelible wall of ceramic.

The Resistance plans to draw the Jags along a service bridge to Daiwa's corporate headquarters, which now stands in the middle of Tokyo Bay. Despite a tense moment when she discovers that Maria was once Leon's lover, Vexille volunteers her assistance (and that of her flight-capable armor) in this effort.

However, though Vexille and Maria succeed in drawing the Jags to the end of the service bridge, the bridge has been detached from the headquarters, the Jags fall into the sea, and Vexille and Maria are captured.

The two rebels are taken to Kisaragi, the master of Daiwa, who boasts that his research is nearly complete. And as needs more test subjects than just Vexille and Leon, he is going to invade America to get them. Vexille attacks him with a hidden knife, revealing that his blood is still human - he has not used the process himself due to its shortcomings. Saito, his henchman, then strangles him.

At this point, the town council forces the ceramic gates open, destroying Tokyo and enabling the Jags to use the primary cargo bridge to enter Daiwa's headquarters. Kisaragi, having somehow survived, attacks Saito and escapes with his research. The underling then releases Vexille and Maria before succumbing to his wounds.

Vexille pursues Kisaragi while Maria frees Leon. The lover's reunion is a poignant one, as though he did not abandon her as she always assumed, he has moved on - his concern for Vexille is evident. Thus when Vexille prevents Kisaragi's escape in a helicopter, Maria grapples him and smiles as her cybernetic body draws a Jag to devour them both. Vexille and Leon are rescued by a SWORD helicopter just as Daiwa headquarters collapses into the bay.

As Vexille and Leon are flown from a now completely lifeless Japan, Vexille comments that true immortality can be found simply by encouraging others to embrace life.
