COMMONWEALTH EXPRESS AT KOLKATA STATION

Kolkata: Thursday, July 29, 2010.

 

Commonwealth Express train, which was flagged off by Mamata Banerjee, Hon'ble Minister for Railways, from Safdarjung Station on 24 June, 2010 to commemorate the 19th Commonwealth Games, Delhi – 2010, reached Kolkata station on Eastern Railway's Sealdah Division this morning (Thursday, 29 July, 2010).

 

The Commonwealth Express train is having 11 air-conditioned coaches in which 5 coaches exhibit sports and Delhi-2010 Commonwealth Games theme. These coaches project India's sports idols and their achievements in the global arena and role of Indian Railways in nurturing and promoting sports. Rest 6 coaches exhibit glorious Information Technology story of India.

 

This train will remain in Kolkata station up to 30 July, 2010 (Friday) and remain open for public from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. There is no entry fee for visiting this train. Thereafter this train will go to Durgapur. Before coming to Kolkata station, it was at Asansol.

Arjun Awardees/Olympians felicitated

Kolkata: Thursday, July 29, 2010.

 

Eastern Railway felicitated a total of 15 serving sportspersons of Eastern Railway, who are Arjun awardees/Olympians, at Kolkata station today. Shri Dewakar Prasad (Boxer) and Shri Sayan Paul Roy (Table Tennis) could not be present on this occasion for being away. They have joined national camp at Patiala and Indian Railways team in Bengaluru respectively.
