We the students and research scholars of various institutions of West Bengal are going to organize a seminar on 9 May 2016 at 4-30 pm at Bharat Sava Hall, Kolkata. For last one year, we have seen that the higher education institutes were attacked planfully by the rightwing Hindutva forces. FTII, Pune was the first place, where the Hindutva forces got the first full length resistance. The struggle of FTII has inspired the whole student community of this country to come forward in resisiting the Hindutva forces. The most important event of last one year was perhaps the 'institutional murder' of Rohith Vemula in HCU. The casteist ruling party and the stooge authority of HCU had compelled Rohith to commit suicide. The student community across the country has erupted into protests after the institutional murder of Rohith. We have witnessed the students from various universities and institutions held hunger strike against this incident. The nexus between the Hindutva forces and the JNU authority has created much tension in the campus. Arresting students from campus itself, punishing students on the basis of 'doctored footages' are unprecedented incidents, which reminds us the horrific memory of emergency if not more the reign of Hitler. The recent developments in JNU, HCU and JU had cleared the intentions of the Hindutva forces. The student community of this country is aware of the fact that how the neo-liberal attack is coming down on us every day. No one is allowed to debate the issues of Kashmir or Manipur in a spirit of freedom of opinion. Only a few talk about the silent genocide of the farmers of the country. The only chant is "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and whoever denies submitting to the ultra-nationalist propaganda of Hindutva Forces to hide the neo-liberal attacks on the people of this country, is becoming a traitor to the nation.
The incident of Rohith's institutional murder has accelerated the battle between the students community and the Hindutva forces. The government has tried to make people forget the issue but the students have refused to leave the battle for Rohith. This incident has united the students community, who largely are divided into a lot of political parties/groups following different political narratives and many more who stands outside of the political rhetoric; everyone has been compelled to take position and to revisit their political lines & programmes. This incident united the struggle of the student community crossing the organizational and regional barriers. The issue of social justice became one of the primary points of concern for the students' movement in India.
However, in this turmoil, the student community of West Bengal was not a direct part. We came up with our solidarity with your cause. The vision, we learnt since the spontaneous movements of students against incidents of assaults over women in WB or against 377 or against a couple of other sorts of social discrimination in the second decade of this century largely following inception of Hok Kolorob movement has played a pivotal role in making of our ideas in recent past. Under the light of Hok Kolorob, we are in a direction to uphold the multiplicity and plurality of ideas of the recent students' movements is the primary strength of these movements against the fascist attack, which is by default trying to create a monolithic hegemony over the Indian society and its people. Kolorob has taught us that in this new era of student movements the exchange of diverse ideas is important in engaging ourselves in a spontaneous movement. To understand the new journey of the students movement in this country, we need a space to interact not only among the organizations but most importantly among the ideas, which today we believe will come from the history of movement and ideology as well as from the ongoing students' struggle beyond the party-banners . Understanding the divergent ideas, forms and contents of these movements will help us to generalize the new path of students' movement in the country and will also help us to articulate a greater unity among the students community against fascist attacks which undoubtedly are the prior concerns.

আশুতোষ কলেজে শাসকের নজিরবিহীন সন্ত্রাসের বিরুদ্ধে আবার সঙ্ঘবদ্ধ ছাত্র সমাজ। আশুতোষ কলেজের ছাত্রী ঋতুপর্ণার ওপর টিএমসিপির সন্ত্রাসের ব্যাপারে আপনারা ইতিমধ্যে জেনেছেন ফেসবুকে,বন্ধুদের কাছে বা অন্য কোনো সংবাদ মাধ্যমে।বিরোধীদের ওপর এই হামলা নতুন নয়।সমগ্র ভারত জুড়েই নানা সময় নানা ভাবে বিরোধীদের কণ্ঠরোধের চেষ্টা চলছে।আর বিরোধীদের মধ্যে হামলার বিষয়টিতে আলোকপাত করতে গেলে বলতেই হয় এই আক্রমণের চূড়ান্ত রূপ সমাজে প্রতিনিয়ত নেমে আসছে সদাজাগ্রত ছাত্র সমাজের ওপর।আমরা এই আক্রমণ শুধু টিএমসিপি বনাম sfi এর লড়াই এর বাইনারি তে ফেলছিনা।এই আক্রমণ আবশ্যিক ভাবেই সমগ্র ছাত্রসমাজের ওপর নেমে আসা শাসকের করাল থাবার একটি অংশ।
আজ আমরা কয়েকজন বন্ধু মিলে এই সন্ত্রাসের প্রতিবাদ স্বরূপ নিজেদের দলমত ujjho রেখে আবার একতৃত হয়েছি।আজ দুপুরে ভবানীপুর থানায় আমরা বন্ধুরা মিলে এই সন্ত্রাসের বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়ানোর শপথ নিয়ে একটি ডেপুটেশন জমা দিয়েছি।থানায় কার্যরত পুলিশ অফিসার গুরুত্ব দিয়ে বিষয়টি দেখার কথা নিশ্চিত করেছেন।এভাবেই বারবার শাসকের আক্রমণ নেমে আসছে ছাত্র সমাজের ওপর...প্রতি মুহূর্তে...হয়তো এই সময়ও। আর থেমে থাকার সময় নয় বন্ধু।শাসকের হাতের অস্ত্র কথা বলে...ছাত্র সমাজ অস্ত্র সজ্জিত না হলেও দুর্বল নয়.....আমাদের হাতে বন্দুক নেই,নেই ধারালো অস্ত্রও... কিন্তু আছে কলম ,রং পেন্সিল আর কিছু স্বপ্ন....আমরা লড়বোই....
